Student Work
At Whittier, students work alongside faculty in professional research projects, as well as work on a variety of independent topics. In some cases, the results of this research has been presented by students at regional academic conferences, such as the Southern California Conference on Undergraduate Research, and some at national, professional association meetings.
For example, two students working with Dr. Devin Iimoto on his snake venom research—specifically the effect of using a partially purified enzyme to remove bloodstains from clothes—were recently invited, along with Dr. Iimoto, to give a presentation on their results of their work at an annual meeting of the American Chemical Society, the foremost professional organization in the field.
