Academics
Research Projects
Independent undergraduate research projects thrive at Whittier. At the forefront of these endeavors into student research is the Whittier Scholar’s Program, in which students work with a key group of supervising faculty while they explore new areas of academic study. From a sociology project like “Images of Women in Advertising,” to a chemistry project researching “Thought-Controlled Mechanical Limbs,” students pursue independent research projects that suit their own interests and post-Whittier career goals.
Here are just a few, recent, student research projects:
- Sources of Marginalization of Senegalese Immigrants in France
- Closing the Loop: Controlling Type I Diabetes Mellitus
- Revolution: A Philosophic Perspective on the Automotive Industry
- Engendering Identity: The Women’s Peace Movement in Israel from the 1960’s to 1993
