Department of Modern Languages
Careers
Our graduates work in a variety of fields spanning the gamut: from teaching and community leadership to corporate and government employment. Language study can take you to graduate school in a specific language, or it may be a key component of your entire educational experience. For example, many of our students pursue two majors--one in language and another in political science, sociology, or business, while many other students have used a language major inside of their Whittier Scholar's project, pairing it with art, film studies or a social science. The possibilities are endless. The important thing is that language is key to becoming a critical thinker, a well-read adult, a world traveler and a global citizen. It shows that you can connect with and understand a world where global perspectives are becoming an increasingly important asset.
