Why Assume?

Why assume x as opposed to y, or a for that matter? Any answer requires justification. If you understand there is real force to the joke, you have the hook to understand the life of philosophy, though the marvels of its power still remain well beyond the limits of your imagination. What is the good life? If you do not know, as Plato showed, “you are living in the shadows.” You are welcome to discover with us that philosophy shows you how to begin to ask the right questions—by making community with disciplined thinkers of our age as well as those from two millennia ago—as it inspires and encourages worthwhile living.
