SEVIS 901 Fee Information

SEVIS I-901 REQUIREMENT FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Once you receive your I-20 and BEFORE you attend your visa interview, every international student must pay the $100 SEVIS I-901 fee. The SEVIS I-901 fee is mandated by the U.S. Congress to support the program office and the automated system that keeps track of students and exchange visitors, and ensures that they maintain their status while in the United States. Each student or exchange visitor issued an initial Form I-20 or DS-2019 on or after September 1, 2004, is responsible for paying this fee.

To complete and submit a new SEVIS Form I-901 and pay the I-901 fee, go to the U.S. Homeland Security website, and follow the instructions. This website can also give you a historical background regarding the fee and answer all of your questions.

Whittier College is not responsible for the payment of the fee and completion of the form. Whittier College cannot be held responsible for any visa interview cancellations because the SEVIS I-90 form had not been completed or fee paid in full by the student within the required time frame.

Should you have any questions about this SEVIS I-901 fee explanation, instructions, or Whittier College's liability limits in this matter, please contact Kieron Miller, director of admission.
