Work Study Award & Bill Information
Once admitted and enrolled, all international students will receive a billing statement listing the total amount that must be paid by the first day of classes*. The balance shown on this bill will encompass tuition, room and board, and student fees—minus any scholarship and financial aid you have been awarded. The bill does not, however, reflect any Work Study Award you have been granted. Therefore, the outstanding balance may reflect a larger amount than anticipated.
The Work Study Award is not accounted for in your bill because some students wish to use that money for personal expenses rather than for paying tuition and fees. If you wish to use your Work Study Award for personal expenses, you must pay the full amount shown on your billing statement. Once you have begun employment on campus, you will then collect a bi-weekly paycheck as you work throughout the semester.
If you choose to credit your Work Study Award towards your bill, you will need to notify the Business Office. You may do this by signing the Whittier College Work Study Agreement, enclosed with your billing statement. While the Business Office monitors your balance, you are required to work sufficient hours to earn the amount. Please note, additional information on student employment at the College will be mailed to you by the Office of Career Services, and a Work Study Fair to learn about campus employment opportunities is typically held the first week of the fall semester.
If you have questions related to this matter, please contact Darryl Foy, admission counselor and international student advisor, in the Office of Admission.
*The deadline to pay the outstanding balance is the day prior to the start of classes; however, we strongly advise you to wire the funds to Whittier College no later than August 31.
