Timeline of Events

So you've decided that Whittier College is the right school for you... what now? This webpage will outline the next steps in the process—what to do and what to expect. We look forward to seeing you on move-in day, if not before!

FIRST, return all required forms and deposits to the Office of Admission no later than May 1* to reserve your place in the Class of 2012. This includes the Admitted Student Reply Form and a non-refundable $300 enrollment deposit, as well as the Room Reservation Form and a non-refundable $100 housing deposit, should you plan to live on campus. Once we have received the required forms and deposits, we will send an acknowledgement letter to you, affirming your place in our freshman class.

SECOND, you will begin receiving critical materials from the College, anticipating your arrival on campus and entry into the Whittier College community; please read these materials carefully and return any requested forms or questionnaires in a timely fashion. The most important packet you will receive will be your Orientation Binder, which will include health and athletic forms as well as address questions about academic advising, placement tests, registering for classes, and other important aspects of your academic and social life at Whittier.

THIRD, you will receive your Housing Information from the Office of Residential Life, which will give the name, address, and phone number of your roommate(s) for the upcoming school year, and your residence hall assignment. We strongly advise you get in contact with your roommate(s) prior to your arrival on campus, so you can get to know one another and so you can make critical decisions about what to bring to campus to make your room feel like a second home.

LAST, WELCOME! Traditionally, Whittier College's Orientation for new students begins over Labor Day Weekend in early September. Designed to act as your introduction to Whittier, Orientation takes place over several days prior to the start of the fall semester and is an opportunity for new students to meet professors, administrators, and, of course, fellow students. In addition to getting you accustomed to your new campus, Orientation events enable you to meet upperclassmen who stand ready to serve as peer advisors and help introduce you to Whittier life. Activities quickly break down barriers between students, and many later look back on Orientation as one of their favorite times at Whittier.

If at any time during this process you have a question or concern, do not hesitate to contact the Office of Admission at admission@whittier.edu or (562) 907-4238. Thank you, and welcome to the Whittier College community!

*Provided there are remaining spaces available in the freshman class, the College will continue to accept enrollment deposits past the May 1 deadline.
