Committees
Alumni Admissions Committee is charged with partnering with the Office of Admissions to build quality enrollment.
- Identify opportunities for alumni to support the admissions process.
- Create and deliver training for board members at the May meeting and for volunteers at the WAVE.
Alumni Programming Committee is charged with developing and implementing events and activities to engage and promote an active alumni body. Programming will aim to include an educational component to encourage lifelong learning opportunities for alumni.
- Create surveys and provide preference results for program selection.
- Work with the Office of Alumni Relations staff to publicize events and activities and promote attendance.
- Subcommittee: GOLD Programs will develop programs to engage Graduates of the Last Decade. Plan and provide support for hosting the programs.
- Subcommittee: Alumni House Speaker Series will identify, invite and schedule six major speakers during the academic year (September, October, November, February, March, and April). Plan and provide support for hosting the programs.
Leadership Development Committee is charged with developing and hosting The W.A.V.E. (Whittier Alumni Volunteer Experience) Leadership Conference each September as the point of entry for informed and enthusiastic volunteers.
- Develop the WAVE program and format to encourage active engagement of volunteers, including class agents.
- Work with the Office of Alumni Relations staff to recruit volunteers, publicize the event and promote attendance.
Nominating Committee is charged with addressing the Board’s governance issues.
Poet Awards Committee is charged with honoring distinguished alumni at the annual Poet Awards ceremony during Whittier Weekend each October.
- Develop selection process and identify candidates.
- Gather biographic information and photos of award recipients.
- Plan and provide support for hosting the event.
- Work with the Office of Alumni Relations staff to publicize event and promote attendance.
Regional Chapters Committee is charged with building existing regional chapters and creating two new chapters each year. This committee will plan and provide support for well-attended "Summer Sendoffs" in July and August for each region.
