Whittier Weekend

SAVE-THE-DATE:
October 17-19, 2008

Whittier Weekend is a time to reconnect with the College and old friends. Just think, someone you knew during your college days is looking forward to seeing you once again, and if you aren’t there they will be disappointed. The cornerstone of the weekend is the special Reunion Class gatherings for the 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, 30th, 35th, 40th, 45th, 50th, 55th, 60th, 65th, and 70th Reunions. It’s also an important opportunity for Poet families to visit campus and see their students.

An exciting array of programs is offered each October. For example, Friday afternoon features Poet College, a selection of courses specifically designed for alumni and led by favorite faculty members. Recent course offerings included Dr. Fred Bergerson’s presentation on "Forty Years after TET: 1968 military intelligence data reveals crucial lesions for today’s military" and Dr. Judith Wagner’s presentation "Fishing Naked: photographs and stories comparing childhood in the US and Denmark."

Whittier Weekend also features the annual Poet Awards ceremony honoring seven distinguished alumni for their career achievements and community service. And, the weekend is not complete without a great grudge match for the Homecoming football game and other Varsity teams competing at home throughout the weekend. Help cheer the Poets on to victory!

If you are coming from out of town, special rates for Whittier College alumni and families have been arranged with local hotels. Take a moment to register today!
