Nixon Archive
Richard Nixon (1913-94), the 37th president of the United States, graduated from Whittier College in 1934. The Richard Nixon Permanent Collection, housed in Whittier's Wardman Library, is divided into two sections: artifacts and published materials. The published materials, which encompass books, newspaper clippings, and audiovisual products—DVDs, videotapes, audiotapes, LPs (vinyl records), motion pictures, and microfilm—are housed on the ground floor of Wardman Library.
Pat and Richard Nixon generously donated an important treasure trove of artifacts and memorabilia to Whittier College in 1979. These items were collected primarily during Vice President Nixon's foreign travels during the 1950s, and include a number of gifts from foreign heads of state, including Nikita Khruschev and David Ben Gurion. These remarkable artifacts are on display in the Nixon Room, on the top floor of Wardman Library. Additional items from Nixon's post-presidential years are also on display, including gifts from Chou Enlai, the Premiere of the People's Republic of China.
