About the Rock
Published three times per year, The Rock is the official magazine of Whittier College. With a subscriber readership of approximately 17, 000, the magazine serves as the primary conduit for infomation about the College's programs, people, and activities.
Regular departments are:
- PRESIDENT'S CORNER. Sharon Herzberger's editorial on life at Whittier College.
- AROUND THE ROCK. This section features Campus News (briefs), Faculty Files (travels, publishing, honors, and submitted articles), and Society Pages (updates from Whittier's 10 fraternities and sororities).
- SPORTS. This section offers seasonal wraps, interviews with athletes or coaches, and other business and updates from Whittier Athletics.
- FEATURE STORIES. Typically includes in-depth articles, alumni profiles, or special coverage of an event.
- DEVELOPING WHITTIER. Offers an update on gifts to the College, financial news, and other updates from the Office of Advancement.
- ALUMNI NEWS. This section features a letter from the Alumni Association President, reports from Whittier's Regional Alunni Chapters (Hawaii and Washington), Poet-to-Poet (class notes), travel opportunities, event notices, and other news for alumni.
- SENIOR MOMENTS. A photo-profile of a graduating senior, this department introduces some of the newest members of the Alumni Association, highilighting student accomplishments and sharing favorite memories.

Features
Public Policy, Public Service. Beyond the office of U.S. President, Whittier College has a proud history of alumni heading into public service, working to create and reform national public policy.
Model Citizens. For more than 35 years, Whittier's Model United Nations program has educated students in the intracacies of international affairs, helping to develop their skills of negotiation and diplomacy.

Features
Sacred Spaces. Once very much a faith-based institution, Whittier College is now faced with an increasing need to provide spiritually themed programming—at the request of students.
Kissinger in Context. Amid both cheers and jeers, former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger visits the Poet campus to help raise funds for the Richard Nixon Fellowship Program, spawning a flurry of academic programming and intellectual debate.
