About the Communications Program

The Office of Communications is the official source of news and information for Whittier College and serves as a primary link between the College and news media, alumni, parents, faculty & staff, friends, and other key constituencies.

Communications staff has oversight for the following initiatives, among others:

  • Web operations for the Whittier College site;
  • Flagship publication The Rock (the magazine of Whittier College);
  • Media relations and news programs;
  • Crisis communications; and
  • Brand management in daily operations.

As part of the Advancement Division, the communications office closely supports the work of both Development and Alumni Relations, but also serves in an advisory capacity for most all campus offices, including the Offices of the President, Dean of Students, Admissions, and the Department of Campus Safety.
