Graduate School Advising

The Career Planning staff is also available to assist students interested in attending a graduate school program as part of their ultimate career path. For some, such as students in the physical sciences, a graduate program is either required or highly recommended as part of the steps toward a profession in the field. For many, though—majors in the humanities, the arts, the social and applied sciences—the decision whether or not to pursue a graduate degree, or the timing for such a pursuit, can be negotiable.

Counseling services include advising in the exploration of schools and programs and guidance in completing the graduate school application and personal statement or essay. Additionally, the Career Planning library has a number of volumes on current programs, graduate school entrance exam preparation, and other related materials, and several online resources to financing graduate school and open fellowship and grant programs.

Whittier College has also partnered with Princeton Review to offer select graduate school exam testings on the Whittier campus; for information on testing dates and recommended preparation programs, please contact the Office of Career Planning, 562.907.4230.
