About RSS

RSS (Rich Site Summary/Really Simple Syndication) is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. It is used to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines or podcasts. An RSS document, which is called a "feed," "web feed," or "channel," contains either a summary of content or the full text.

A variety of RSS readers are available for different platforms. Some popular feed readers include ListGarden (Windows, Linux, Mac) and Feedster (Windows).

Other selected readers include:

Amphetadesk - Windows, Mac, Linux (open source); free
Awasu - Windows; free for personal use
Bloglines - Web-based news aggregator; free
NewsGator - read your news within Microsoft Outlook on a PC
NewsMonster - runs directly in your Web browser (works best in Mozilla)
RSS Reader - Windows; free
