The Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan (MEChA) is a student organization that seeks to promote Chicano/Latino unity and empowerment through education and civic engagement.

MEChA Logo MEChA is very active in advocating for Latino issues on campus and plays a key role in organizing educational events such as Hispanic Heritage Month and new student orientation. MEChA members are also active in the local community -- reaching out to local high school students and motivating them to continue their studies.

Mission Statemen

We the students of Whittier College, for the purpose of individual group and community improvement among Chicano students of Whittier College must take upon ourselves the responsibilities, to seek and share knowledge of our own culture and Latin@ heritage, to promote and encourage our people to pursue and continue higher education, to graduate, to serve the community, to seek social justice and equality through political activism, and to motivate each other while maintaining a strong sense of self identity and pride in our Chicano Latin@ culture and community.
