Health & WellnessGood health means having a full measure of physical, emotional and social vitality. At Whittier, our vision is to create and sustain a learning environment where healthy behaviors are an integral component to academic and individual success and to provide students with the opportunity to create balance in their lives.

Whether you are a campus resident or a commuter, the College can assist you in maintaining a healthy wellbeing through a variety of programs and services from the Student Health and Counseling Centers to opportunities to play intramural sports, to exercise and lift weights at the Graham Athletic Fitness Center, and to gain nutrition education and healthy eating tips.

Among our current programs, students have the chance to participate—under the leadership of Trish Van Oosbree, Hartley House Faculty Master and associate professor of kinesiology and leisure science—in a number of organized activities, from hiking and rock climbing to intramural softball and basketball. Throughout the academic year, the Counseling Center offers a number of workshops and seminars geared toward stress management and relaxation techniques. And the campus dining company, Bon Appetit, continues to sponsor its Wellbeing Challenge, providing nutritional information for everyone from the vegetarian to the body builder.
