What to Bring
In an effort to assist our new and returning residents in preparation for the move to a Whittier College residence hall, the Office of Residential Life has created a list of essential and suggested items to make the transition to living on campus as smooth as possible. Not all residence halls are air conditioned. Ball, Stauffer, Johnson, Wanberg and Wardman.
Each residence hall room is furnished with a bed frame, mattress, dresser, closet, desk, and desk chair. Residents will need to supply linens for an extra long twin bed, towels, pillows and blankets. Each room has an overhead light, but you may want to bring a desk lamp (please be aware that halogen lamps are prohibited). As this will be your "home' for several months, we encourage you to bring any decorative items that will personalize your living space, but please note that all college-owned property must remain in the assigned rooms. Please see the list below for other recommended "essentials."
Many of our residents choose to bring items for personal entertainment and comfort, such as a computer or laptop; a small television, stereo, or gaming device; or a telephone (corded is recommended in case of a power outage). Refrigerators are allowed in rooms, but must not exceed 6 cubic feet. Please note the following are strictly prohibited: toasters, electric skillets, electric grills, ovens, hot plates, waterbeds, candles, incense, halogen lamps, and sunlamps.
