Poet GOLD
Established to encourage alumni who have graduated within the last 10 years to remain connected to Whittier College, Poet GOLD (Graduates Of the Last Decade) provides a robust program of special networking events and lectures for recent graduates. All alumni from 1999 through 2008 are automatically considered members of Poet GOLD.
The mission of this group is to work with the Alumni Association to foster strong bonds between recent graduates and Whittier College through social, networking, educational, and volunteer opportunities. Our goal is to connect recent graduates with one another and with Whittier College - for life! Poet GOLD takes into account that new grads with new jobs often have limited time, but still want to see old friends, meet new ones, make business contacts, and have some fun.
All recent alumni can plan and execute their own Poet GOLD event ideas within their own geographic area. That means there can be as many events as there are ideas - whether social, cultural, recreational, sports, educational, or job-related professional! You just work with the local volunteer leader who helps with e-communication, and then make it a party with your Whittier College friends!
Poet GOLD alumni can join the John Greenleaf Whittier Society (JGWS) with a gift to the Whittier Fund at a reduced rate of $250 - for alumni 1-5 years out (2004-2008) and $500 for alumni 6-10 years out (1999-2003). GOLD JGWS donors will receive full JGWS membership benefits at the Fellow level.
