Program Committee is the programming branch of COR. It is comprised of
several subcommittees that organize and plan the traditional Whittier
College events, along with a mixture of new activities. Membership is
open to all interested students, and all are invited to attend the
weekly meetings, Mondays at 6 pm in the Dexter Student Union. In
addition, any member can assume a leadership role by applying for chair
of the following committees.

• The Films Committee is responsible
for the Whittier College Film Series, nicknamed "Hoovies" because they
are shown in the Lautrup Ball Cinema (Hoover 100) on Sunday nights. Best
of all, admission is free! The committee selects movies that the student
body wants to see. Click here to view a

• The Homecoming Committee plans the
annual Homecoming Weekend celebration. This includes the Bonfire, voting
for Homecoming Court, Homecoming Dance and the half-time ceremony at the
football game.
• The Special Events Committee aims to seek new and innovative
programs to bring to campus, ranging from bands to lectures and
comedians. The goal is have programs that educate as well as entertain.
• The Spring Sing Committee is in
charge of the annual talent show. They implement the judging process,
award categories and come up with the theme. This evening event is held
outside in the Harris Amphitheater, where clubs and organizations
perform.
• The Luminarias Committee coordinates
the annual spring formal dance and dinner. This committee chooses the
theme, dinner menu, decor and location for the event. Past locations
have included The Disneyland Hotel, The Queen Mary, and Shutters on the
Beach
• The Whittier Festival Committee
coordinates the annual fair where students compete in carnival and
inflatable games while listening to bands and eating free food. |
