First Year at Whittier
Memorable and rewarding. This is how your time should be at Whittier – and it begins your very first semester.
Our First-Year Experience program for incoming freshmen is designed to help make the transition to college a positive one, paving the road for students’ success both academically and socially.
The adventure begins with Orientation, an opportunity to officially welcome you to the campus community. Through our Freshman Writing Seminars, you embark on a common learning experience with others in your incoming class. Think of them as your very own group of peers to study with - and live with - in our Living Learning Communities.
The First Year program also connects you to faculty advisors to stimulate your passion for learning and keep you on track, as well as upper class peer mentors who’ve been in your shoes. And, of course, you’ll enjoy social events both on campus and off to help you get to know others and build friendships.
As you begin this next chapter of your life, the First Year Experience definitely sets the tone for success at Whittier, as well as for a lifetime of learning.
