Career Planning Assistance

To assist students in the process of exploring different major and career options and in preparing for their future career choices, the Career Services Office provides various services and resources to students.

  • Counseling Appointments.  Counseling appointments are available to assist students in:
    • assessing your values, interests, skills, needs, goals, etc.
    • choosing/changing a major
    • choosing a career
    • clarifying and exploring your career/education options
    • preparing for your future career goals
    • organizing your job search
    • identifying and researching employment and/or graduate school options
    • Students can call (562-907-4230) or stop by the Career Office to schedule an appointment.
       
  • Assessment Inventories.  Career Interest, College Major, Skills, and Personality Preference inventories are available to assist students in gaining a better understanding about themselves and in identifying possible majors or careers.
     
  • Choosing a Major and Career Exploration Workshops.  Check the upcoming events and workshops web page for dates and times of this semester's workshops.   Upcoming Events and Workshops.
     
  • Career Planning Course (INTD 13) A one unit experiential course for freshmen and sophomores who are undecided about their major and/or future career choice.  The course focuses on the career planning and decision making process, exploring and researching career options, internships and includes an introduction to graduate school and job search.
     
  • Career Planning Course (INTD 14) A one unit experiential course directed toward the career planning needs of sophomores, juniors and seniors. Course topics include career exploration, internships, graduate school and job search.
     
  • Career Resource Library.  Career Information books and binders are available for students to utilize in their career research process.  The resources are located on the first floor of the Philadelphia House and are available for check-out.
     
  • Career Consultant Network.  Career Consultants (alumni and local professionals) have volunteered to provide students with information regarding their occupations, career paths, and current employers, and to offer job search advice.  Interested students can contact these individuals to set-up informational interviews.
