"Introduction
to the Food Industry" (New Self-study Program)
A food science self-study
program for students (grades 9-12) is available free for
teachers and students on IFT's Home Page (http://www.ift.org).
This program of 8 study modules on topics related to all
aspects of Food Science was developed by the California
Polytechnic State University Food Science and Nutrition
Department and Safeway Foods, Inc. Distribution via the
World Wide Web is being funded by the IFT Foundation.
"In Good Taste:
Careers in Food Science" (Order this on-line
through Video Placement Worldwide)
This 14-minute VHS videotape
(complete with teaching guides and poster) highlights career
opportunities in food science. Schools may request a free
copy of the video on "permanent loan," by calling
IFT's Career Guidance Department (1-312-782-8424) or writing
to IFT for a "Video Request Form." The school
information requested on the form must be completed and then
submitted by free FAX to our video distributor at
1-800-358-5218. Requests should specify the grade level (7-9
or 10-12) for appropriate collateral materials. Individuals
and corporations may purchase a copy of the videotape and/or
collateral materials for $29.95 from the IFT Customer
Service Department at 1-312-782-8424.
"The Great Food
Fight"
This 13-minute VHS videotape
(complete with collateral 4-unit Lesson Guides, 12 Student
Blackline Masters and Poster) is entitled "The Great
Food Fight." It presents important food safety
information for students of all ages (grades 4-12).
Information relates how this topic relates to students and
foodborne illnesses, introduces various related
microorganisms and illustrates proper food handling.
Schools
may request a free copy of the video on "permanent
