The Career Office provides
students and alumni with various services and resources designed to assist them in their
part-time and full-time job searches. We assist students and alumni in constructing job
search plans through individual appointments and small group workshops.
Specifically, we help students identify and clarify their career and employment
goals, as well as develop effective job search tools and strategies.
Job Search Assistance
- Counseling Appointments.
Students can receive individualized assistance in conducting a job search.
Specifically, the Career Services staff helps students prepare resumes, cover
letters, job search correspondence; prepare for job interviews; develop effective job
search plans; and identify and evaluate their employment options. Individual appointments
are helpful to both students/recent graduates who have identified targeted job/employment
goals, as well as those who are still unsure about their future employment options.

- Job Search Information Sessions. Throughout the academic year, the Career Services Office offers workshops
and information sessions on How to Write an Effective Resume and
Cover Letter, Preparing for Interviews, Mock or Practice Interviews, Summer Job Search,
Job Search Strategies for Full-time Employment, Using the Internet as a Job Search Tool,
etc. These information sessions are helpful introductions to the different aspects
of conducting an effective job search campaign. For more information about this
semester's workshops and information sessions, consult the
Career Services Calendar or contact Career Services.
- Resumes. The
Career Services staff assists students and alumni in preparing and critiquing their resumes.
To obtain assistance with your resume, you can consult our

Web page, obtain a printed resume guide available in the Career Office, schedule an
appointment with Career Services staff or attend a Resume/Cover
Letter workshop.
- Cover Letters and Job Search Correspondence. The Career Services staff assists students in preparing and
critiquing their job search correspondence. To obtain assistance, you can consult
our Cover Letter and Job Search Correspondence Web page,
obtain a printed resource guide available in the Career Office, schedule an appointment
with Career Services staff or attend a Resume/Cover Letter workshop.
- Interview Strategies and Preparation. Students can receive assistance in preparing for job and graduate
school interviews by attending a workshop, participating in a mock practice
interview, consulting our Interview Strategies Web page, or
scheduling an appointment with the Career Services staff for individualized assistance.
- Career Library Resources.
The Career Office has numerous books on writing resumes and job
search correspondence, preparing for interviews, and implementing job search strategies.
In addition, there are employer directories, industry profile folders, summer and
full time job listings and other resources to assist students in locating potential
employers and job opportunities.
