BaseballWhittier College's Institute for Baseball Studies was recently featured in the Whittier Daily News. The institute is the first humanities-based research center of its kind associated with a college or university in the United States and will celebrate its grand opening on the campus of Whittier College on Friday, January 16, 2015.  

“The purpose (of the institute) is to be able to take a look at the cultural impact of baseball on American history, especially in the present day,” said Professor of Religion and Co-Director of the Institute Joe Price to the Whittier Daily News

About 1,500 to 2,000 books, periodicals and articles have been donated to the archive by Price, Professor of English Charles Adams and Professor of Political Science Mike McBride. They also serve as associate directors of the institute and are joined by English Professor Katy Simonian, who is teaching two baseball-related courses. Terry Cannon, Executive Director of the Baseball Reliquary, serves as Co-Director of the institute.
