Professor Cinzia Fissore Discusses Los Angeles' Ecological Footprint

Cinzia FissoreCinzia Fissore, professor of biology and environmental science participated in the The Institute for Science in Global Policy's program "Does My Ecological Footprint Make a Difference in L.A.?" The program included other speakers who discussed the topics of water, energy use, and transit on March 11 at Whittier's First Friends Church Fellowship Hall. 

The speakers explained how audience members can make a difference and gave them calculators to use to evaluate and reduce energy and water use and carbon consumption.

Fissore demystified the term “ecological footprint.” Architect-Builder Devon Hartman explored steps that can be taken to reduce energy consumption in homes. Ryan Wiggins, the cap and trade manager for TransForm, spoke about the future of transportation in California.
