Professor Wallis Elected to WASC Senior College and University Commission

Andrew Wallis, WASC CommissionerThe WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) recently announced the election of Whittier College Professor of French Andrew Wallis as one of its new Commissioners. WCSUC is a regional accrediting agency serving a public and private higher education institutions throughout California, Hawaii, and the Pacific, as well as a limited number of institutions outside the U.S.

As a Commissioner-Elect, Wallis will join a select group of higher education leaders from around the country which will evaluate colleges and universities undergoing the WSCUC accreditation process. Commissioners are nominated and elected by the chief executive officers of accredited institutions in the WSCUC region and serve overlapping three-year terms.

Wallis serves as Professor of French and Director of International Programs at Whittier College. He has been a member of the faculty at Whittier since 1999 and served in numerous governance roles, including Chair of Faculty Affairs Committee, Chair of Enrollment and Student Affairs Committee, and Chair of Faculty from 2010-2012.  He has also spearheaded initiatives integrating open-source technology into the classroom and bringing data tools to assessment.  He holds a B.A and a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia and an M.A. from Middlebury College. His research interests include French literature and ecocriticism.
