Ryan Colberg, Pro Wrestler, Whittier College alumnusAlumnus Ryan Colberg '99, who goes by the name of Anthony Idol, has become what the San Diego Union-Tribune calls a “one part wrestling legend Hulk Hogan and one part 1980s punk singer Billy Idol.”  Colberg is a well-known professional wrestler at SoCal Pro Wrestling where he won the Golden State championship history last January.

While attending Whittier College, he played for the Poet football team, which he says helped him a lot in pro wrestling. Colberg started wrestling about nine years ago, training in Tijuana and Los Angeles. The former Whittier College football player shares that he gave up wrestling for a while but started again about two years ago.

Coming from a small liberal arts school, Golberg still believes that interacting closely with fans is what makes wrestling meaningful. He shares, “If you think the crowd doesn’t matter, then we’d just be two guys fighting in our underwear, When people are enjoying themselves, it makes it all worthwhile.”
