Michal Loving '02 Named First Female Rabbi at Florida Temple

Whittier College Alumna, Rabbi Michal Loving, Temple Beth Orr, Coral Springs, FloridaMichal (Merraro) Loving '02  joined Temple Beth Orr of Coral Springs in South Florida as the synagogue’s first female rabbi.

Rabbi Loving was ordained by the Reform Jewish seminary, Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR), in 2012. She grew up splitting her time between her mothers' home in Long Beach, California and her father's house in Holon, Israel, and spent five years living in Cincinnati, Ohio according to her website.

"Rabbi Loving exudes warmth, wisdom, compassion, a strong sense of self and a sense of humor. Her passion for Judaism is both contagious and energizing. She is a rabbi for our young and young at heart," said Steve Feinstein, president of Temple Beth Orr to the Sun Sentinel.
