Much Ado About Nothing is a hilarious comedy about two pairs of lovers, Benedick and Beatrice, and Claudio and Hero. While the young lovers—Claudio and Hero—must overcome a myriad of obstacles to their happy union, Beatrice and Benedick are engaged in a "merry war" of the sexes. Benedick thinks he hates Beatrice but really loves her and Beatrice who thinks she hates Benedick but really loves him. It all adds up to one of the greatest romantic comedies ever written.
This production features an all student cast and is directed by Gil Gonzalez, assistant professor of theatre and communication arts. Each year the theatre department produces up to four faculty directed productions in the Ruth B. Shannon Center for the Performing Arts. These productions afford students the opportunity to engage in theatre as a collaborative process.
