Backpack-to-Briefcase (B2B) Series: Careers in Arts & Entertainment

Backpack to Briefcase (B2B) workshops present students with the opportunity to connect with successful and seasoned alumni to receive mentorship, learn and develop practical career skills, and explore stories of traditional and not-so-traditional career paths. Discussions at each workshop center around diverse career options and paths in a variety of professional fields, and broach topics such as:

Artist Talk & Opening Reception: Ihrie Means, "Storytelling"

Whittier College is pleased to present the exhibit Storytelling by Ihrie Means.

“This exhibit is arranged to give an unedited, non-glorified look at the process of putting together a graphic novel. By bringing my studio into the gallery space visitors will get the chance to see what goes into the making of two very different genres of graphic narrative," said Means.

Mark Allen Lecture

Mark Allen is a Los Angeles-based artist and curator as well as an Associate Professor of Art at Pomona College. He is the founder and executive director of Machine Project, a non-profit performance and installation space investigating art, technology, natural history, science, music, literature, and food in an informal storefront in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. Machine Project also operates as an informal team of artists who collaborate to present work at locations ranging from beaches to museums to parking lots.

Open to all Whittier students, this information session and reception is your opportunity to meet fellowship advisors, learn about fellowship applications, and mix and mingle with current fellows.

Dessert will be provided. No RSVP is necessary.

URSCA Presentation Day

Now in its fourth year, Whittier College's Undergraduate Research, Scholarship and Creative Arts​ (URSCA) Presentation Day provides students the opportunity to present original work completed during the summer and academic year. Presentations are given through various forms of media including individual and poster presentations, creative arts explorations, and student panels.
