Whittier Poets Achieve SCIAC Championship Trifecta

Whittier College softball teamFor the first time in Whittier College's history, Poet Athletics earned three conference championships in one school year. The men's and women's water polo teams dominated the pool in the 2014-2015 season, bringing home two conference trophies. The third SCIAC championship of the year for the Purple and Gold came from the softball team led by head coach Dee Dee Kingsbury.

Stephen Zavala '15 drafted by St. Louis Cardinals

Stephen Zavala ’15Poet catcher Stephen Zavala ’15 was selected by the St. Louis Caridinals for the 2015 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft. Zavala, the second Poet in as many years to join MLB, was the lone Division III West Region player chosen by a major league team this year.   

Rebecca Lybrand '07: The Top Three Things I Learned as a Science Student at Whittier

Rebecca LybrandRebecca Lybrand '07 is committed to science education and outreach. A biology major while at Whittier College, she went on to earn her Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in soil, water and environmental science, and completed several fellowships focused on improving her science communication skills. 

Science and Learning Center Project Remains on Schedule

President Herzberger, Project Manager John Best, VP Steve Delgado visit SLC sitePresident Sharon Herzberger and Whittier College officials donned hard hats and toured the Science and Learning Center construction site for the first time since the project began. Project Manager John Best gave President Herzberger and the group an update on the project’s progress and confirmed that it remains on schedule.
