Expert in Emerging Democracies Returns to Campus to Teach Fellow Poets

Jose Garzon, Whittier College alumnus, Political Science professorAlumnus Jose Garzon ’77 is a scholar-practitioner of democratic governance and conflict resolution with three decades of foreign affairs experience. He is back at Whittier College to teach the JanTerm political science course Emerging Democracies in the Developing World.  

MLK Celebration

This year's celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will feature a reenactment of various facets of Dr. King's life by Gerald C Rivers, a three-time National Gold Medalist in Dramatic Interpretation. The reenactment will include a hanging drum, violin, and vocal performance. The evening will also include an open mic portion for guests to share their talents.

A contemporary adaptation of Ibsen's A Doll's House that sheds a fresh new light on Nora's struggle to reclaim herself. In the tony suburbs of Connecticut, Nora's children are cared for by a Jamaican nanny, her husband's best friend is in love with her, and her stifling marriage is crumbling. Nora also has a secret, the revelation of which irrevocably sets her life on a new course.
