Under the direction of Rich
Cheatham, the Whittier College Media Center delivers a variety of services
related to the acquisition and use of educational visual materials to
Whittier College faculty, staff and students.
- Specifically, the Media Center:
Schedules the use of large screening rooms by instructors and campus
organizations. Such rooms include Platner 202, Diehl 118 and the Lautrup-Ball
Cinema (Hoover 100) at the times and on the days that they are not
slated to be in use by regularly scheduled classes;
- Checks out videos for use by faculty, and
schedules, delivers and retrieves TV/VCR setups and overhead and slide
projectors and screens used in classrooms. Complete catalogues of the
Media Center's more than 3,200 holdings are available at the Center.
Faculty members may check out up to three items for overnight or weekend
previewing. Students are not permitted to check out such materials, but
can view them at the Media Center by appointment;
- Makes appointments for faculty and students to
view visual materials at the Center on an individual or small group
basis outside normal classrooms;
- Assists in acquisition of new films,
tapes, DVDs and other visual materials, including taping programs
off the air;
- Provides public address systems and
related equipment for on-campus events;
- Offers media production services to faculty,
including still photography, slide production, videotape duplication and
audio and video studio production.
