Our campus is spread out
over 75 acres and houses about 1,300 students in our community of
scholars with almost 100 professors instructing them in over 30 fields
of study. Life at Whittier, however, is anything but crowded! It's what
a liberal arts college is meant to be. It's the difference between being
a name and being a number. It's about people from different backgrounds
coming together and freely sharing thoughts and ideas, organized around
the central idea of learning.
Whittier is more than an
education, it's an experience. Occasionally, you'll find professors
conducting class outdoors rather than in the usual constraints of a
classroom. They've even been known to host class in their own homes as
well as other off-campus locations that show a "real-life" example of
whatever that day's discussion might be about. At Whittier, those who
teach do so because they love living the life of the mind. In the
Whittier Community, a liberal arts education means teaching students how
to keep on learning after graduation and for the rest of their lives.
Getting your degree isn't where it stops. It's where it all begins. |
