Joint Statement on the CRC from ACEI and OMEP-USNC
WORLD OMEP’S RELIEF EFFORTS FOR
JAPAN AFTER THE EARTHQUAKE AND TSUNAMI
Thanks to the many who have already inquired how to
participate in OMEP’s effort to help our colleagues in
Japan.
Our World President, Ingrid Pramling Samuelsson, has
been trying to establish contact with OMEP members in
Japan. This may take several days, given the severity of
the situation there. Once Ingrid is in communication
with them, she and other members of the World Executive
Committee will develop a plan in accordance with OMEP-Japan’s
wishes and priorities. World OMEP will surely establish
a relief fund, as we have done with other major
disasters in the past, including, most recently, last
year’s earthquake in Haiti. OMEP is not a first
responder, so we wait until after the rescue and
immediate disaster relief efforts have concluded. It has
long been OMEP’s practice in these situations to let
OMEP members in the affected areas guide the
organization’s decisions about priorities for relief
projects.
If you have not yet joined OMEP or renewed your
membership for 2011, please do so now because every
voice will be important in the coming weeks and months
as we move forward with plans to help in Japan.
Membership forms are available on the Membership page of
this website.
Thank you for your generosity of spirit and for all you
will do, individually and collectively, when World OMEP
initiates a relief project for Japan.
