GALE, MARY ELLEN

Gale is a member of the American Civil Liberties Union National Board of Directors and
National Executive Committee, and is a former president of the ACLU of Southern
California. She has authored a number of law review and op-ed articles on free speech,
women's rights, constitutional law and civil rights, and has appeared often on television
and radio to discuss or debate current issues. Before beginning her law teaching career,
Gale was a political speechwriter, newspaper reporter and editor, civil rights activist,
legal services attorney, and ACLU lawyer and lobbyist.
She earned a B.A. from Radcliffe-Harvard University, and a J.D. from Yale University.

Dr. Geirola's expertise lies in various aspects of Latin American lifestyle and culture,
with a special emphasis on theater. He has participated in numerous dramatic productions,
as both actor and director; is widely published in both academic and non-academic
journals, with topics ranging from trends in Latin American theater and performance to gay
and lesbian identities in Latin American communities; has translated works to Spanish from
both English and French; and has participated in many conferences and seminars.
Dr. Geirola earned his B.A. from Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina, and his
PhD. in
Spanish from Arizona State University.

Professor Gentry, a panel member of Appellate Defenders, Inc., represents abused
and neglected children under appointment by the California Court of Appeal. She
is past chairman of the Appellate Law Section of the Orange County Bar
Association. She served as a legal skills professor at the California Western
School of Law and practiced appellate law in Northern California.
Professor Gentry holds a B.A. and M.A. from Florida State University. She earned
her J.D. in the SCALE program at Southwestern University School of Law.
GOLDBERG, STEPHEN R.

Dr. Goldberg is the author of more than 100 publications in the fields of herpetology and
ichthyology (reptiles and fish). He received a Certificate of Appreciation from the U.S.
Department of Commerce in 1980 for his work in developing a new method of estimating
spawning biomass in marine fishes. This work, of which Dr. Goldberg was co-author, was
judged Best Paper by the National Marine Fisheries Service. He has taught and lectured in
South America and the South Pacific, and has served as an environmental consultant.
Dr. Goldberg received a B.A. from Boston University, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the
University of Arizona.
GRUNER, RICHARD S.

Gruner is a faculty member in the Center for Intellectual Property Law and registered to
practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. His subjects include computers and
the law, corporations, intellectual property, patent law and real property. He is the
author of The Legal Audit and Corporate Crime and Sentencing. He was a
member of the Southern California Law Review. He holds a B.S. from the California
Institute of Technology and a J.D. from the University of Southern California. His LL.M. is from Columbia University School of Law.
