Dr. Neu has been admitted to practice before the Nebraska Supreme Court, the California Supreme Court, and the U.S. District Courts of the District of Nebraska and the Central District, California. He has done field work in Nigeria and West Africa.

He received a B.A. from Creighton University, an M.A. from Harvard University, a J.D. from Creighton University School of Law, and a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska.

Lana started her career in public accounting at Arthur Andersen & Company and spent six years in public accounting in both Audit and Tax practices. She held the Chief Financial Officer Position for two technology companies in California, Entrada Networks and ProShot Golf, Inc. During her financial leadership at various firms, Lana raised venture capital and second stage growth financing with top investment banks including Robertson Stephens, Montgomery Securities, and other.

Lana held managerial and directorship positions for manufacturing and retail firms including Millers Outpost and Clothestime, large retailers of over 500 stores nationwide. She is currently an Assistant Professor at Whittier College where she is teaching financial and managerial accounting, and other specialized accounting courses. Lana recently completed an assignment for PacifiCare Health Systems where they outsourced their technology group to IBM. She assisted PacifiCare in establishing financial and internal controls in an outsourced environment.

She has an MBA from California State Polytechnic University and an Advanced Executive Certification from the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University in Chicago.

Dr. Norden’s research has focused on Latin American politics, especially civil-military relations and democratization in Argentina and Venezuela. She is the author of Military Rebellion in Argentina: Between Coups and Consolidation (University of Nebraska Press, 1996) and co-author of Argentina and the United States: Changing Relations in a Changing World (Routledge Press, 2002). In addition, she has written several journal articles and book chapters, most recently “Democracy in Uniform: Chávez and the Venezuelan Armed Forces,” in Venezuela’s Rupture in the Age of Globalism, edited by Steven Ellner and Daniel Hellinger. Her current work explores irregular transfers of power throughout Latin America, as well as democracy promotion by the international community. She has received grants for her research from the American Political Science Association (APSA), Colby College, Stanford University, the Organization of American States, the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Michigan.

In 1997 Dr. Norden received a fellowship from Women in International Security and served as acting Central America Country Director in the Department of Defense Office of Inter-American Affairs. She is a member of the APSA, Latin American Studies Association, Inter-University Consortium on Armed Forces and Society and the International Studies Association.

Dr. Norden has a B.A. in political science and cultural anthropology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She earned a master’s in political science and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.
