Whittier College Hosts PCCLAS Annual Conference

Whittier College will host the annual conference of the Pacific Coast Council on Latin American Studies Nov. 6 – 8.  The theme for this year’s conference is “The Contexts and Consequences of Neoliberalism.”

Ricardo Gomez, professor of philosophy at California State University, Los Angeles, and author of the recently published book Neoliberalismo Globalizado (Globalized Neoliberalism: Refutation and Debate), will deliver the keynote address on the same topic on Saturday, Nov. 8, during the luncheon for participants.

Panel topics include Transnational Issues and Migration; Advances in Maya Cave Archeology; Corporate Governance, Neoliberalism and the Environment; Asian Communities in Latin America; and U.S.-Mexican Relations and Human Rights Issues.

Located 18 miles east of Los Angeles, Whittier College is an independent, four-year college offering traditional liberal arts majors and strong pre-professional programs taught in the context of the liberal arts.  Whittier Law School, which is accredited by the American Bar Association and is a member of the Association of American Law Schools, is located on a separate campus in Costa Mesa.
