U.S. Secretary of Transportation
to Speak at Whittier College Commencement


WHAT:                    Norman Mineta, U.S. Secretary of Transportation, will give the
keynote address at Whittier College’s 99th commencement.


WHEN:                    9 a.m., Friday, May 24, on the football field.


WHERE:                  Whittier College

ADD:                      Mineta is one of four people who will receive honorary degrees from Whittier College during the ceremonies that will also see 281
seniors graduating and 23 candidates receiving their master’s


                             Newport Beach philanthropist and College Trustee Willard V. “Bill”
Harris, Jr., a graduate of the class of 1955, and 1965 graduates
Linda and Peter Biehl also will be awarded the Doctor of Humane
Letters degree.  Linda Biehl will accept the degree for her husband, Peter, who died in March.  The Biehls are the founders of the Amy Biehl Foundation, which they established to aid the people of South
Africa after their daughter Amy was murdered there in 1993.

DIRECTIONS:           Take the 605 Freeway to Whittier Blvd.  Go east on Whittier to

of campus with adjacent parking.
