Career Services Big Event
WHAT: Career Services Big Event
WHEN: Thursday, Oct. 28, 4-8 p.m
Philadelphia House Parking Lot
ADD: "The Big Event: Making Career Connections" is a carnival of fun with educational overtones. Students can win prizes and learn more about their career options in booths run by more than 20 clubs and organizations on campus. For instance, the Cultural Center will focus on diversity in the workplace, while the Wellness Coalition will have beer goggles-glasses that give the wearer the perspective of a drunk-to help focus on sobriety in the workplace. Students will be able to meet and network with alumni, and Career Services will host a dart game that will give students an idea of the job opportunities available with their majors. There will also be music and an alfresco barbecue. The carnival should show students how joining clubs and using services outside the classroom can help make connections for their future careers, says Lynn Pearson, director of career services, in addition to being just plain fun. For more information, contact Pearson at (562) 907-4200, ext. 4415.
Directions: Park in the Mendenhall lot at the corner of Painter Ave. and Philadelphia St., or behind the Shannon Center, and walk a half-block east to Philadelphia House.
