This exhibition of the works of nine national printmakers is in conjunction with
LAPS 17th Biennial Juried Print Exhibition at the Armory Center for the Arts in
Pasadena. Whittier is one of 20 galleries throughout the
Los Angeles area
participating in the exhibition. The works shown at Whittier share a similar
aesthetic: formal beauty abstracted from ordinary life. Ballroom dance, nature,
drug regimens, the view out a skylight, alchemy, and the experience of growing
up in a Navy family become the source for rich patterns, processes, and
notations. The show features the works of Harriet Sanderson, Kazuko Watanabe,
Jean Gumpper, Karen Kunc, Doyle Tallmadge, Kathryn Maxwell, Juergen Strunck,
Jimin Lee, and Marilyn Nelson.
