ADD: The Magic Beans--a theater group for young audiences at Whittier College--will present "The King Stag," a seventeenth-century Italian fairy tale by Carlo Gozzi. This delightful production--complete with evil magicians, young lovers, confused clowns and bewitched parrots--is a humorous romp, suitable for the entire family.

King Deramo, double-cast with freshmen Griffith Gilbert and Scott Tyler, searches for his true love Angela, double-cast with senior Erin Link and freshman Loren Tyers. When Deramo finds his love Angela, the Evil Prime Minister, double-cast with freshman James Adomian and senior Richard Hellstern, tries to usurp the king's power, position and Angela for himself.

The play will be performed in a commedia del'arte style (with modern influences), and will include music, dance and puppets to make it a lively and exciting show.

As part of a January Interim class, Crystal Brian, associate professor of theater arts, and Kim Russo, associate professor of art, will be heading the production. Students Stephanie Trosen 99 and Sadie Workman 99 will serve as assistant directors for the show.

As always, The Magic Beans will wind everything up with a happy ending to "The King Stag," and will invite audience participation in a question-and-answer session which will include all performers and creative personnel.
