Virtual libraries include information resources selected and organized in a logical way by information professionals. Virtual libraries are often called annotated directories or academic directories. They are  most likely to contain subject guides, specialized databases and reference works (dictionaries, encyclopedias, almanacs, etc.) Virtual libraries can be browsed or searched. The major difference between virtual libraries and the directories is that virtual libraries are much smaller since the resources were selected very carefully.
