Professor Gary Gold earned a B.S. (accounting), an MBA, and a Juris Doctor degree, all from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. He has studied international law at the University of London as a part on an international graduate exchange program, and subsequently earned an LL.M. degree (with distinction) in comparative employment law at the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom. He is a certified public accountant (CPA) and an attorney licensed by the Virginia State Bar.

Professor Gold has over 23 years of university teaching experience in the fields of business law, accounting, and contemporary business ethics, including 13 years abroad in China, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates. He has unique teaching experience derived from implementing multi-dimensional teaching and learning strategies, including among culturally, socioeconomically, and internationally diverse populations. His research interests are in the areas of comparative employment law, applied business ethics, and forensic accounting.

Prior to his academic career, Professor Gold practiced law in the area of commercial litigation (in the Washington D. C. law firm headed by former U.S. Senator Birch Bayh of Indiana) and, subsequently, in labor and employment law with the law firm of Jackson Lewis in Atlanta. He also undertook previously a graduate internship with the London solicitor’s firm of Gregory, Rowcliff & Milners in the U.K. Besides his legal experience, Professor Gold has also worked previously in public accounting, having been associated with both PricewaterhouseCoopers and Arthur Andersen & Co.

Professor Gold has also been active in civic organizations; notably, having served as the Alpha chapter president and chapter advisor, second national vice president and national board member, and the assistant executive director of finance for Kappa Alpha Psi international fraternity. Professionally, he is a member of the Academy of Legal Studies in Business, the American Society of Comparative Law, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Virginia State Bar Association.
