During the homecoming festivities this past Friday through Sunday, alumni, students, family, friends, faculty, and staff reunited with familiar faces during brunches, tours, and games; enjoyed mimosas on the roof of the Science & Learning Center (SLC); carved pumpkins; took innumerable selfies; and cheered on the Purple & Gold, among a whirlwind of other activities.

On Friday, President Sharon Herzberger delivered her State of the College address, in which she highlighted students' achievements, such as their fellowships, internships, and research opportunities. She also celebrated the completion of the SLC and the College's many other accomplishments, including its placement on the U.S. President's Honor Roll for community learning.

College pride was in full display at Saturday afternoon's Homecoming Festival, where Poets enjoyed ice-cold food truck desserts, reminisced over burgers, and excitedly gathered their friends and family for photo booth pictures. During the festival, Herzberger awarded the 2016 All-Society Alumni Participation Challenge Cup to the Metaphonian Society—for the second year in a row. The annual competition honors the society with the highest percentage of alumni making a gift to the College in a given fiscal year.

At a special ceremony, outstanding athletes were also inducted into the Purple & Gold Hall of Fame: CJ Carly '00, Juan Rodriguez '99, Karl Simmons '79, Katy Downs-Theriault '96, Sara Kiesselbach '00, Darline McCracken, and the 2004 Men's Water Polo Team—the first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champions.
