Contrary to popular misconceptions, studying mathematics in college is not at all like the mathematics you saw in high school. It is a dynamic field that is continually evolving and from which new applications are constantly being discovered. Mathematics is found everywhere, from “serious” places like the National Security Agency and on Wall Street to more “fun” interpretations such as Sudoku, music, and art.
The Mathematics Department currently offers majors in Mathematics and Mathematics with Teaching Credential Emphasis and participates in the interdisciplinary major programs for Mathematics-Business and 3-2 Engineering. Also offered are minors in Mathematics and Scientific Computing.
Our students enjoy small class sizes and a devoted faculty who share both their knowledge and passion for the subject and who make themselves available to students.
Whatever your interest in mathematics, we hope to mentor you along your mathematical journey.
