Commuter Students

Breadcrumb

A commuter student is someone who does not live on the Whittier College campus and travels to classes every day from on off-campus location via bus, car, bike, or walking. Approximately one half of Whittier students commute to campus.

Whether you are a first time commuter or you are returning for another academic year, we want you to be successful and a part of the spirit, energy, and excitement of Whittier. These pages will help you find out how to stay connected to the College community while living off campus.

College Business Hours

Whittier College offices (Registrar, Business, Billing, Financial Aid, etc.) are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the exception of the Department of Campus Safety, which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Student Life Policies

Poets living off campus must still abide by all student policies and procedures set forth by Whittier's Student Life Division. Also, new and returning students who wish to live off campus must complete a Housing Exemption Form and submit it to the Office of Residential Life. Learn more about the policies for living off campus.

Commuter Meet-ups

Every month, the Office of Student Engagement, the Office of Equity and Inclusion, the Associated Students of Whittier College (ASWC), and the Commuter Student Association host an opportunity for commuter students to meet-up, network, learn about campus events, and explore different parts of campus.
