Event Description

Historically, Drag has been an important activity for members of the Queer community. Drag attempts to subvert traditional gender roles and expectations to demonstrate a broader and more inclusive perspective of gender. The Poet Pride Drag Show creates a safe space for students, staff, faculty, alumni and professional performers to freely express themselves and share their art with the Whittier community. The proceeds of this event will go to Transgender, Other-identified, Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian, and Allies for Diversity (TOBGLAD), our student-run LGBTQ+ Pride club, who are currently working with members of the Whittier community to develop an LGBTQ+ Resource Center in the Whittier area. This event is open to everyone as we hope to create a bridge between current and former students, faculty, staff, families, and the larger Whittier community.

Cost: $10, FREE for Whittier College students and children under 12
