Alcohol Policy

  • Whittier College takes the safety of its students, staff, faculty and guests very seriously. 
  • Alcohol consumption at Whittier College is only allowed with prior written approval from the Office of Conference Services and the Office of the President. 
  • All alcohol shall be served by a licensed bartender provided by Whittier College's exclusive caterer Bon Appetit. 
  • Absolutely no minor will be served alcohol on the Whittier College campus. 
  • Additional security, provided by Whittier College Campus Safety, is required for any event or activity involving alcohol. 
  • Anyone who wishes to be served alcohol at an event must:
    • Present their valid ID showing that they are eligible to drink under state and federal laws. (California Business and Professional Code, Section 25658)
    • Wear a wristband issued by the Campus Safety Officer on duty.
    • Present a valid government identification to a Campus Safety Officer if requested. 
    • Not provide alcoholic beverages to anyone not wearing a wristband.
    • Remain within the area of the event.  

The Campus Safety Officer on duty, licensed bartender, or representative of the Office of Conference Services may:

  • Refuse to serve alcohol to any event attendee presenting signs of intoxication
  • Close the bar if rules are not followed
  • Request identification from anyone appearing under the age of 30.

Failure to comply with this policy will result in:

  • Guest(s) being removed from the event
  • Early termination of the event 

Fundraising Policy

Outside organizations looking to host a fundraiser on campus must adhere to the following criteria and guidelines:

  • Fundraising for a political candidate, cause or party is not allowed on campus. 
  • Must submit a comprehensive description of the event, noting the type of fundraiser and the cause or benefit
  • Submit all marketing collateral to the Office of Conference Services and Special Events for review.
  • All marketing materials must disclose to invitees and guests that Whittier College is not, in any way, affiliated with the fundraising goal, nor are the funds being raised on behalf of Whittier College. The name of the College must not be used to advance any fundraising activities and shall only be used for location purposes. 
  • Client must follow all other local, state and federal regulations on fundraising.

Food and Beverages

  • All food and beverages served during an event must be provided by Whittier College's exclusive caterer, Bon Appetit.
  • Absolutely no food or drinks from other vendors are allowed on campus. 

Security

  • Whittier College reserves the right to require more security at an event at the host’s expense. 
  • The Office of Conference Services will notify the event host if additional security is needed based on the following criteria:
    • Number of attendees
    • Alcohol service
    • Type of planned activities
