Adonis RiveraKinesiology major Addonis Rivera '21 learned a lot about how the human body works at Whittier College—knowledge he will build upon to earn a Doctoral degree in chiropractic medicine.

Hometown: Lynwood, CA

Major: Kinesiology
Minor: Socology

Activities/Involvement: Poet intern at the Counseling Center, back in motion physical therapy, William Penn Society, president of United Indigenous Peoples and Nations, Ruby Club

What Whittier College means to me: Whittier College means a fresh start in education for a public school kid like myself.

Favorite class: Exercise Physiology with Dr. Van Oosbree

Favorite WC experience: Halloween parties

Most unusual thing I did at Whittier College: I dissected a cat and held its heart in my hand.

Most interesting thing I learned from working for the counseling center: I learned that physical trauma is sometimes stored and kept in memory for reason unknown to science leading to reinjury or reoccurring injuries

What are your post Whittier College goals? Finish my next 4 years or less at Southern California University of Health Sciences to complete my Doctoral degree in chiropractic medicine, where I will be treating and training athletes.
